Organiser: Davis Cooper
Rockcraft I is our introductory course to outdoor climbing. It is highly suggested you are familiar with gym climbing so you already know the basics when you get on either end of a rope. We do organize carpools most Wednesdays out to hangdog so you have ample opportunity to practice and get some confidence.
This trip can be pretty popular so preference will be shown to those who have come to climbing night.
We will meet at Hunter Carpark at 9 am and then catch the train up to Pukerua Bay, a lovely coastal location about an hour north of the city. We will set up top-ropes and go over basic climbing and belaying skills, with a variety of grades to suit beginners and more advanced climbers.
If you have suitable experience and would like to try lead climbing we can try to facilitate this as well.
What to bring: Climbing Harness (there are some club ones available), climbing shoes (or trainers if you don’t have any), weather dependant clothes (there is no shelter at the beach and it can be windy), lots of water (it gets surprisingly hot out there), lunch and snacks, jandals.
Optional Items Include: any climbing gear you might own, togs, snorkel, frisbee, anti-gravity device, crag dog.
You might be waiting for a bit between climbs so bring something to keep yourself amused other than spraying beta at climbers.
