Arson - "the criminal act of deliberately setting fire to property."

e.g. "police are treating the fire as arson"

Come join me as I test out the different meanings of "arson" at Burn Hut, the northernmost hut in the Tararuas. The hut has 6 bunks so I'm limiting signups to that many people.

It's an easy-medium 3-4 hour walk to Burn hut from Mangahao Dam No. 2. The first hour involves river travel, before ascending into the hills. It's a pretty nice hut and we can chill there for the rest of the day. On day 2 we can either backtrack the way we came, or continue round the loop track to the southern Mangahao Dam No. 1. The latter would also be 3-4 hours, but would also involve another hour's trek up the road back to the car.

Just a warning about a potential deal-breaker: according to DOC, the "toilet at Burn Hut has blown over and is unusable." You COULD hold on for 2 days, but you could also ditch the hygiene conveniences of modern society for a bit. I'm hoping this scares off potential bunk stealers at the hut, but we'll take tents just in case.
