Keen to go birdspotting, visit an obscure part of Wellington, and support conservation efforts? Awesome, this is the trip for you!
We're taking part in the NZ Garden Bird Survey 2024. We'll go for a short bush walk to Truby King Park. This reserve is known for its birdlife and is a cool area to walk around.
To get there, we'll meet at Kelburn campus at 12:30pm and catch the 18 bus at 12:53pm. The ride will be about 20min. We'll get off near the hospital and walk about 20min to Truby King Park.
We'll then choose a good birdspotting location. For 1 hour, we'll write down all the species we see. We'll then enter these into an online database, which will sit alongside the efforts of thousands of other New Zealanders.
We'll be joined by people from the VUW Society for Conservation Biology and the VUW Science Collective. Bring lunch, a water bottle, good walking shoes, and good vibes!
