Let's do Iron Gate hut in the Ruahines! DOC time is 4-5hrs, I would say this is medium difficulty because the track quality is supposed to be not that great and there is a chance we need to bush bash a little or cross a river. There are many slips on the track which sound like fun. Considering the slips have been there for over a year I imagine people have made tracks around them but if not I have heard that you can just go straight up the river. And if it becomes too tricky we can turn around and stay at alice nash lodge which is near the start of the track.
Sort out your own food please but let me know if you need a cooker from the club or I can share mine with a person or two. Also we can stop at the supermarket on the way. Make sure to bring lots of warm layers and a rain coat because it's pretty much winter now and there may be showers. But I'll cancel the trip if its just gonna be rain and nothing else. I have a car but the hut sleeps 10 so we could bring a second car if someone signs up with one. Cost is just the fuel cost split up which will probably be $20-30
