A multi-day and medium trip to the Ruahines. Am hoping to see a pretty sunrise. May change plans on day depending on weather or how we're feeling.
Rough plan:
Day 1 (Friday): drive from Welly to Sunrise Hut road end via Dannevirke (3.5hr), then walk to Sunrise Hut via Triplex Hut (2-3hr)
Day 2 (Saturday): walk to Waipawa Forks Hut (1.5hr), then to road end along Waipawa river (2hr), plus possible bonus 1hr loop walk around the Swamp Track, then drive home (3.5hr)
- Fuel: $40-50
- Huts: Triplex Hut (standard hut, $10), Sunrise Hut (serviced hut, $25)
- Shared dinner/s - maybe?
