Ōtari Forest Weeding Volunteer Workday
Join the Ōtari Trust's "Forest Weeders" group for a morning of hands-on conservation work in the beautiful Ōtari-Wilton's Bush native reserve.
About:
The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month, from 9am to 12 noon. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, October 16th. Meet at 9 am at Tāne Whakapiripiri, the visitor centre. There you'll head off to tackle weeds somewhere in Ōtari.
What to Expect:
Spend the morning pulling out encroaching weeds like Tradescantia from the forest floor. The work is physically engaging but also social, with a morning tea break where volunteers can enjoy fresh homemade baking.
If you'd like to join the "Forest Weeders" group, please let the Ōtari Trust know. They'd be delighted to have your involvement! Contact them at here to sign up or get more details.
This is an ongoing volunteer program, so feel free to attend as many sessions as you're able. All skill levels are welcome.
