Organiser: Connor Sheppard

So I'm needing to lead an overnight tramp of reasonable difficulty for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Which I've chosen to do part of the Dundas loop - aiming to stay at Cattle Ridge hut on Saturday night, and bag Herepai & Roaring Stag along the way. This walk would lean medium due to its elevation gain (Road end is at about 320m, Cattle Ridge 1120m!)

  • Road end to Herepai - 2 hours
  • Herepai to Roaring Stag - 3 hours
  • Roaring Stag to Cattle Ridge - 2 hours.

So a 7 hour starting day, and the descent will be 6 hours (as we do not need to go past Herepai again).

Cattle ridge only has 5 bunks, so a tent may be necessary if we get more than 5 people. But we'll need a 2nd car for more than 5.

Given it's a Duke of Edinburgh tramp, there will be NO GPS USAGE, and instead map and compass navigation (but I guess that will make it more fun :) ).

Sign up and I will get in contact with you, and add you to the group chat for organising food, transport, meeting times etc!
