Organiser: Justin Atkinson

Keen for a chill day walk, a nice swim, and to see a New Zealand outdoor hut? We'll be doing it all here!

You may have read about or visited some of New Zealand's awesome backcountry huts. We'll be visiting a nice one called Haurangi hut and doing a simple cleanup to improve the experiences of future visitors. We've been trusted to do this by DOC and the Federated Mountain Clubs!

To reach the hut it's a 45min drive from Wellington, then a pleasant 2.5-3 hour walk (one way). We'll stop first at a beautiful swimming spot, before doing some basic cleaning and note taking about the hut. Overall the walk will be 5-6 hours.

We need cars to reach the track, if you can help please let us know!

We'll be meeting at the Hunter carpark at Kelburn campus at 10am, and ideally arrive back in Wellington between 5:30-6pm.

Cost: $6.50 for petrol, there will be special treats for signups!😉
