Save the date! VUWTC is hosting a Ceilidh.

You are formally invited to join us for the VUWTC Ceilidh! This event will be hosted at the Hunter Lounge, Kelburn Campus, on the 8th of May from 19:00 til 22:00. For those who don't know, a ceilidh is a Scottish or Irish social dance event, featuring live folk music, a bit of dressing up, and a lot of fun! The dances (which take place in pairs or groups of different sizes) are instructed by a 'caller'. Haven't been to a ceilidh before? No worries! The caller will teach us all the moves, and no previous experience is required! We are very excited to have Vic Folk as our live band.

What you need

• Whilst there is no formal dress code, people often choose to go for a 'smart casual' vibe! Bear in mind that ceilidh dancing can get pretty hot and heavy, so we suggest wearing something relatively light and comfortable for lots of moving around.
• Even if you come in your finest suit or best dress, comfortable shoes (or no shoes!) such as trainers are recommended to reduce the risk of ankle-related injuries and falls.
• Water! The bar will be open, but consider bringing your own water bottle along so that you can stay easily hydrated throughout the night. There will be time and space to take breaks from the dancing.

Tickets

We are pleased to have extended the ceilidh invitation to other VUW and Wellington-based clubs! This means that tickets may sell quickly, so be prepared to grab yours. Tickets will go on sale HERE on Tuesday 28th April, during the time of VUWTC's usual weekly meetings (you do not need to attend this meeting to buy a ticket!). Your ticket price covers the cost of the venue, band, and also includes pizza served by Hunter Lounge. The price of the tickets will be confirmed shortly - we are aiming to keep this at less than $25 per person.
