As you approach the carpark on your final day of a weekend tramp, do you ever stop, dread your re-entry to civilisation, and think to yourself: "man, I wish I didn't have to go home yet"?
If this sounds like you, then look no further! We have assembled a working plan that will satiate your desire for a 5-night tramp in the Tararuas.
There are two aims to this plan:
1. Visit teeny tiny bivvies (inspired by the recent trip to Baine-Iti Hut)
2. Cross the Tararua Ranges...
We have two suggested routes, which will be detailed below very shortly. The first week of June is the first week of winter - that means cold, rain, perhaps some snow. Each route has various bail options. The one that we choose will depend on who is coming and may be edited depending on how conditions are looking by the time the trip rolls around. You must be a fit and experienced tramper to come on this trip, and we have two spaces available - please come and chat to us (or email) at a Tuesday meeting if you're interested. As it is such a big trip, sign-ups will not be first-come first-served.
