Organiser: Max Sakarai-Sarll
To celebrate the club’s 105th anniversary, we’re going to Penn Creek Hut! We used to own and look after the hut, so it’ll be fun to see how it’s changed over the years and how others have treated it.
It’ll be a walk of approximately 1100 m uphill before an 800 m descent to the hut, 6 hours total. We’ll bag Field Hut, one of the oldest huts in the Tararuas, on the way too. Route below:

On top of normal overnight tramping supplies (see list here), as part of the celebrations, we’re planning on bringing stuff o have a proper party. This stuff will have to be split amongst everyone’s packs, so please leave some room in your pack if possible. Full list TBD depending on number of signups (some stuff may need to get cut), but as of now the list as follows:
-
Shared dinner of nachos
-
A Moore Wilson’s cake (their cakes are excellent)
-
Pancake mix for shared breakfast
-
GOOD alcohol (to be carried in plastic bottles of course, TBD if people are down to drink)
-
And, of course,
-

The orange bucket. We'll split the contents across packs as best as possible to lighten the weight of these.
I will pay for all of these supplies myself, so don’t worry about having to cover it financially in the trip cost.
