Organiser: Michael Baird
With the Covid shit going on decisions on what this trip will look like or even happen, will happen closer to the time. If you are interested in attending or doing something similar it would be a good idea to get in touch with the guides (email Michael above or the guides at trips@vuwtc.org.nz). That would allow us to gauge interest for another time later in the year (July, August, September).
Learn some of the basics of mountaineering/ winter tramping. We will teach you how to travel on snow using ice axes and crampons, about the gear and clothing you need and a bit about alpine weather.
Required gear includes waterproof jacket and overtrousers and sturdy boots that can take crampons, if you're unsure about the suitablity bring them a meeting and one of the committee can check them. And of course plenty of warm baselayers, midlayers, gloves etc... The club will provide crampons, ice axes, helmets.
This will be run out of the TTC lodge, just before the start of the season.
These skills are required for 'mid winter' trips.
Signups for this trip are not 'first in first served' but at the descresion of Michael.
This trip is now full, if a place becomes avaliable you may be moved from the waitlist.
