Thursday, 31 March 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Organisers: Kathleen Griffin, Nathan Cobbald, Colan Balkwill
POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEK (31/03) DUE TO WEATHER :(
The second of series of weeknight walks exploring the Wellington region - a combo of easy bushwalks & urban adventuring
Round 2 of WWW will be to visit Te Ahumairangi Hill Lookout & scope out a cave.
We will meet at the university on Thursday evening then walk though Kelburn to one of the entrances of the town belt (probably Stellin memorial park)
Bring warm clothes, appropriate footwear, some kind of torch & whatever snacks/bevs you desire!
Apparently there is an old cave used for gold/silver mining on the Tinakori side of the hill that we will have a go at finding: "Thomas Tunnel is at the other end of the claustrophobia spectrum. The tunnel stretches for about 35 meters. The further you go in, the smaller the diameter of the tunnel gets before hitting a cramped dead-end. There’s a fair amount of dripping water."
Sign up if you're keen! We will send an email to everyone that's signed up on Thursday morning confirming all the details.
Future WWW location may include:
✅ Glow worms at the Botans
Mirimar Bunkers
Central Park, Prince of Wales Park

✅ Te Ahumairangi Hill Lookout/Town belt
