Hey guys:)
I'm taking a car up to Waikaremoana for anzac weekend to do the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk! Hopefully catch a glimpse of some good weather and vibes.

Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk: A Complete Guide – Never Ending Footsteps
The plan....
We head up to Lake Waikaremoana Friday the 21st (a 7 hour drive), park up and stay the night at Waikaremoana Holiday Park.
On Saturday we'll trek into Korokoro campsite (a tough day about 20km walking up and down quite a gradient), which we'll pitch up and stay the night.
Sunday we'll go through to Tapuaenui and stay our final night.
Monday we will move through to the water taxi drop off/pick up point at 9am (early rise) - catch it back to Onepoto and then head back to Welly. A solid option could be one of us does this and then drives around the lake to pick up the others as water taxi fee is $80 each (yikes)
All the sites we're going to are campsites, so is pretty essential to bring some sort of shelter (club can help with this). I've got a Honda Civic, so not a huge vechile if you factor in packs so can only take 3 other people (4 at an uncomfortable squeeze), happy to convoy up tho.
Can do shared dinners etc, depends on groups desires.
Rough idea of costs
DOC Campsite tickets $14 x 2 nights = $28
Waikaremoana Holiday Cabin $68 (1 night sleeps 5) = $68 / 4 = $17 (cheaper if we get a fifth)
Water taxi (complusory to get back to car) = $80 per person
Fuel split evenly, probably around $30ish (again depends on number)
Overall = $95ish
not including food :0
Pretty expenny but once in a lifetime ting, and hopefully pretty sick experience. If you're keen, sign up and we'll get a chat going to organise bookings etc ASAP!
