Tuesday, 28 June 2022 at 7:00 AM to Monday, 4 July 2022 at 11:00 PM
Organiser: Kathleen Griffin
Will be catching the super early 2am ferry, then driving from picton to St Arnaud
Day 1: Carpark - Angelus Hut (6hr walk)
Day 2: Angelus - John Tait Hut (6hrs?)
Day 3: John Tait - Upper Travers (easy 3hrs)
Day 4: Upper Travers - West Sabine (6-9hrs)
Day 5: West Sabine Hut - Sabine Hut (5hrs)
Day 6: Sabine Hut - Carpark (6hrs?)
Boost it back up to Picton & go home on the late ferry
This plan is of course assuming the weather is good. We may have to adjust if its not looking too flash.
Nothing too difficult, Travers - Sabine traverse will be the hardest day.
Do expect long days though.
You must have experience doing multi-day trips & ideally have done a snowcraft.
Will be booking the ferry within the next couple days so sign up if you're keen.
You will need to commit to paying the cost of the ferry this week, which is approx $180
My car can fit 4 (or 5 if we wanna get cosy - cheaper too) so max is 4/5. If we have another car then would be 8/9 probably. Will probably be a bit selective about who I choose to come sorry just since it's a pretty long trip & I'm somewhat responsible for everyone's safety 🥴
DOC have a pretty decent rundown of the walk:
