Roaring Stag Hut

Overnight trip to Roaring Stag Hut; de-stress from all your study woes with a cheeky wander into the Tararua ranges. 

In need of a new leader as I have Covid :(( 
transport hopefully sorted 🤞 

What to expect:

- 2 hour ish drive to Putara carpark
- byo lunch
- nice walk along Mangatainoka river, a relatively grunty uphill, then along the ridge before a lighter descent
- swing bridges (love me a good bridge)
-  4 hours overall to the hut
- 12 bunk hut, blue hut ticket, hut has heating and water 
- bring a sleeping mat in case hut is full
- shared vegetarian dinner (optional)

- casual walk back sunday morning
- byo breakfast + lunch
- there's a mean swimming hole nearby if we want to check it out
- drive back to gear shed at uni 
- could stop on the way for a feed 

Gear: refer to gear list & overnight list, lots of warm layers!





Cost: shared dinner + fuel ≈ $20/25 depending on how many people come (drivers dw about paying for fuel)
