Organisers: Meike Pummer, Colan Balkwill

Rockcraft: the first outdoor climbing trip of the year at our local crag (Pukerua Bay) where you can learn everything (or most things) you need to know about outdoor climbing! We will teach you how to stay safe while climbing outside, how to safely belay someone else, and maybe a thing or two about lead climbing if that's something you want to get into. If you've never climbed before this is the perfect introductory trip! I would recommend coming to a Wednesday climbing session indoors at Hangdog first (which I run weekly) if you're unsure but it's not necessary. If you know everything there is to know about climbing this is the perfect trip to get to know some other keen climbers at VUW.

Logistics:

We're going to get there by carpooling so if you have a car pls bring it! The $5 cost goes towards the driver's petrol, so if you're one of those beautiful people driving us out there don't worry you will get reimbursed!

We will be meeting at Hunter Carpark at 9:10am, hopefully leaving by 9:30. Giving us time to put everyone into their cars and get gear sorted from the gear shed.

Will probably be back by 4/5pm back at the car park.

Rockcraft is lead by us (people on the committee/ those who have experience climbing) The main objective is just to get people onto the wall and experiencing climbing outdoors and learning how to belay!

Most gear is all sorted by us (helmets, harnesses, ropes, ATC's etc) but feel free to bring your own along. We have a couple pairs of shoes but coming along in sneakers is probably your best bet or something else you will be comfortable climbing in.

Bring along yourself, some food for lunch, maybe some togs and a towel if you're keen to swim, and some warm clothes because it could be windy out there (welly things).

Send me an email  if you have any questions (meikepnz@gmail.com),
