Mitre with the Massey Tramping Club

Cancelled :( gale force winds and -10 degrees...

Come and climb Mitre (medium tramp - on a track but bloody big hill) with folks from the Massey University Alpine Club

I will let more people on the trip as we get more car space.

THE PLAN:

• Car park to Mitre Flats Hut: 3-4 hours

• Mitre Flats Hut to Mitre summit: 3 hours

• Mitre Summit to Mitre Flats hut descent: 2 hours

• Mitre Flats Hut to Carpark: 3-4 hours

Saturday 30th - leave Welly 8 am. Get to Upper Waingawa Road to the Pines carpark where the Barra Track begins by 10am. Walk 3-4 hours to Mitre flats hut. 

Sunday 1st - 8am. Leave overnight packs at the hut, and head up to Mitre peak summit (take a day pack with water, clothing, and snacks). Should be back to the hut around 1pm for lunch. Walk back to the carpark.

We will be keeping an eye on the weather this week, a final call will be made on Thursday.
