I'm writing this year's climbing roundup while I'm partway through the last 3000-word essay I will ever have to write, so I have very few words to give. Instead, I'm going to give you some stats.

1 broken ankle (mine)

2 trips with the club trad rack

6 people went to Kawakawa Bay

28 Wednesday night climbing trips went to Hangdog

30 new helmets replaced the very 'well-used' club helmets

40 people attended Rockcraft to learn how to stick their hands in cracks and not kill their climbing partner

52 climbing-related emails were sent (mostly to beg for transport)

100+ ascents were made (in varying crags & gyms)

Supporting people who want to get into climbing over the last two years has almost been the highlight of my time in the tramping club. I'm someone who struggles to stick with hobbies, but ever since Davis (previous climbing officer/iconic legend) introduced me to Hangdog I have been obsessed and keen to get everyone else obsessed with getting out into the rocks. Next year Willis St will have its own bouldering gym (thanks Brook) so maybe a walking train will replace my weekly begging for transport.

Get the trad rack to Titahi bay!

See you around the rocks,

Meike
