Friday: With snowboards strapped to our packs, we started the ascent from Bruce Rd to the TTC lodge at 11pm. One step forward, two steps back - the ice got the better of us - we lost a snowboard & bruised our knees. After sitting on the snow for an hour some TTC members took pity on us & brought down some crampons. We arrived at the lodge 1am & devoured an entire carrot cake between us.

The stars were pretty as though

Saturday: We woke up only a few hours later to the most increbile sunrise, then spent the day on the mountain.

Mount Ngauruhoe from TTC Lodge

Sunday: Those with season passes had a brief morning on some slushy snow, then returned back to Wellington.
