By Meike Pummer, 12 January 2022

Trip Members: Meike Pummer (VUWTC rep.), Matt Wilson (does not represent OUTC), Amy Beanland (Aussie rep.)

Crawling out of the new tent (slept without a sleeping bag to avoid faff. would not reccomend. EVER.)

Seeing Earnslaw from the base of the tramp,

Copious amounts of dates to keep us going

... all things to get excited about (500m)

Attempt to avoid bog (failure),

Ankle rolling grass,

Cow poo river crossings,

... all things to get excited about (510m)

Endless hill,

Burning calves,

Humid ass bush

... slightly less excited and really fuckin' sweaty (777m)

Endless things that could be the promised rock bivs (they weren't)

Finally the hut! (but we're mountaineers we dont take breaks),

My two 'comrades' going WAY too fast

... really over this fucking hill (1074m)

The Rock Biv!

A fuckin' rest!

Snacks!

Mental game = winning (1080m elevation)

A haze of uphill in 30 degrees,

Esquilant Bivvy!

Realising the hut has no water,

... should have brought more gas (2264)

An incredible sunset,

The best sleep of my life,

Route finding exercises,

... all things to get excited about (2280m elevation)

The summit!

Cries of disbilief,

A gingernut,

... yeahhhhhh i definitley have the mountaineering bug (2820m BABY!)
