By Zita Keller, 07 October 2023

Originally organised by Chris, this trip was then going to be led by Arlen, after which it made its way to me. Not only that, but the trip was full, with people on the waitlist... and then everyone piked except for me and Jasmyn! Was it even worth still going?? We decided it was. We rolled into Pak'nSave in style and bought assorted items for dinner and breakfast - the only ingredients I remember are bacon and canned corn, but the final product was pretty good....

The walk to the hut was uphill - for a long time. Maybe we were a bit out of shape. We were rewarded with a cute hut at the top with a nice family inside (2 parents and maybe 4 kids?). This did unfortunately mean there was a shortage of places to sleep, and we'd left the tent in the car ("surely there's space for two", we said...). We begged a spare mattress from the family and I spread my sleeping mat on the floor. Reason no. 3214 to get an inflatable mat - sleeping on a hut floor is not comfortable. There was a pretty good cooked breakfast the next morning though - the family might've been a bit jealous.

What more can I say? We walked back down the hill and went home :) (Can you tell it's been 10 months since this trip?)
