4 club members trekked around the south of the Tararuas for 3 days. First day was a chill walk from Kaitoke Carpark to Tutuwai Hut.

Second day we walked to Cone Hut, then crossed the river and climbed all the way up to Alpha Hut, passing through snow, cloudy weather, (and other VUWTC members), and hells Gate. It was awesome to see all the snow at the tops when we got to Alpha.

Final day was a long 9 hour journey from Alpha Hut down to the Carpark. We had beautiful weather while we descended 900m, so we had spectacular views of the Wellington region while going through Marchant Ridge. It was quite dark at the end of the trip; we almost slipped over the clay near the start of the loop! But we managed to get to the end, feeling a great sense of tiredness & accomplishment!
