By Jack Huygens, 07 May 2024

In the whole year of 2024 we did two collabs with other clubs, and they somehow managed to be on the same week! These were with the yoga club (Yoga Lounge VUW) and the science club (VUWSC).

Yoga in the bush

Firstly, we organized a short bush walk combined with a yoga session at the top of Wrights Hill... on a freezing cold May evening (I believe it got to around 3 degrees? not even including the wind chill). There was a great turnout, with about 20 people, around 80% of them yogis and 20% of them trampers.

We grabbed some fish & chips to take with us for dinner, but the yoga club takes food much more seriously! They had an entire cooked up dinner & desert, all prepared in the back of their club van (funny how the yoga club has a van, yet the tramping club doesn't) they even shared some of this massive banquet with us!

(maybe it's because we looked so tragic warming up chips on a gas cooker on the concrete)

Otari guided walk with the science club

Our second collab was less of a "collab" since no science club people showed up! (aside from the president, who was helping organize). We were relying on the science club members to provide the "guided" part of the walk, but luckily quite a few tramping club members are passionate about plants & birds though, so we made do!

We all explored Otari Wiltons Bush on a sunny weekend day, and got some great close-up views of Kaka, Tui's, Kereru and more. Once we realized that we were basically all tramping club members, we changed gears and headed over to the Skyline walkway for a more grunty walk up the hill to some great views.

Since we were so close to Karori, we of course stopped by the Pickle Jar pub for a meal & drink on the way home (after some typical club antics of about 20 people filling up the Karori backstreets and causing chaos like a bunch of hooligans).

Bonus shout-out to the science club for making these great bingo cards!
