Walkies 2024 - A Summary of the Chaos

With another year gone by, so came another VUWTC Walkies season. The 2024 series was truly action-packed and chaotic. Much fun was had, many laws and social norms were broken, urban and rural landscapes appeared, various suburbs both familiar and unknown were visited, many beers were drunk, new friends were made, and lots of crazy ideas came to fruition.

I am grateful to everyone who came along, no matter whether you attended just one Walkie or were there for every event. You make Walkies the frenetic events they are! Walkies have always had a presence in our club, providing us with incredibly anarchic and topsy-turvy evenings. 2024 even saw some successful tweaking to the traditional Thursday nights, with other weekdays, weekends, and afternoons all hosting Walkies. Cheers to those who have run Walkies in the past, your legacy continues today.

A special thank you to all my 2024 (co-)organisers, it was so much fun having you lead trips! You are all in the Walkies Hall of Fame: Jack, Tommy, Dugal, Charlotte, Chris, Iliya, Alan, and Rewa. And a massive shoutout to Kathleen, our former President and previous Walkies Officer. You got me addicted to Thursday night Walkies in our club with your amazing trips, so much so that I stole your job!
