By Jack Huygens, 24 April 2024

There were whispers of an alleged successful "bag all the huts in the Tararuas" run by the club all the way back in the early 2000's...
And last year in 2023 there was an attempt that almost made it to reality, but never made it off the ground due to lack of people and bad weather...

But in 2024 the real deal finally happened!

In the span of 4 days, 64 keen trampers embarked on 14 different tramping trips with the goal of bagging every single hut & biv in the Tararuas.
By our rough criteria, there were 47 huts to bag, and after a wild weekend of gale winds, flooded rivers, and eventually flawlessly clear skies, we managed to bag all but two of them.

These huts were Carkeek and McGregor, and you can find separate trip reports about both of those wild adventures, as well as trip reports about a ton of the other tramps that made this event a reality!
